Segmentation Report

Introduction

This report provides a percentage and total number of profiles based on a defined segment of data.

There are several possible segmentations:

  • Number of full employees

  • Length of time as a member
  • Annual dues amount
  • Industry (listing category)
  • NAICS code
  • Zip code
  • City
  • Membership level

Parameters

After you define these parameters, scroll to the bottom, and click OK to go into the report.

How would you like to segment this report: This determines how the data should be segmented (broken down).

  • # of Employees: If selected, it will segment by the member profile's number of full time employees.
  • Length of Time as Member: If selected, it will segment by the member profile's length of time as a member (less than 1 year, 1 to 2 years, 3 to 5 years, etc.).
  • Annual Dues Amount: If selected, it will segment by the member profile's annual dues amount ($0, $295 or less, $296 to $499, etc.).
  • Industry (Listing Category): If selected, it will segment by the member profile's listing category.
  • NAICS Code: If selected, it will segment by the NAICS Code (defined on the listing category).
  • Zip Code: If selected, it will segment by the member profile's zip code.
  • City: If selected, it will segment by the member profile's city.
  • Membership Level: If selected, it will segment by membership level.

Enter Top N Segments to View (9999 will give you all groups): This determines how many from the top of the list should be reflected in the report. For example, choosing 10 will reflect the first 9 records, with the 10th record being "Others" (a percentage and total of everyone else). 9999 will include everyone.

Select Group Sort Field for Top N Sorting: This determines how the data should be sorted: by # of Members, Annual Dues, # of FTEs.

Would you like to display charts: If set to Yes, pie charts will be included on later pages to graphically reflect the FTE (full time employees), annual dues, and number of members.

Breakdown of Report

There are eight versions of this report (based on how you wish to segment the data (Parameters).

Columns

For any segmentation:

  • The first column is the segment threshold, which is labeled according to the segmentation you selected (e.g., # of Employees or Length of Time as Member).
  • The second column is the number of members, which includes the percentage and total number (of the overall number of members reflected at the bottom).
  • The third column is the number of FTEs (full time employees), which includes the percentage and total number (of the overall number of full time employees reflected at the bottom).
  • The fourth column is the amount of annual dues, which includes the percentage and total amount (of the overall amount reflected at the bottom).

As an example of each column (when segmenting by # of employees):

  • The first column shows each threshold. For this example, we'll focus on the 10-25 Employees.
  • The second column shows that 39.2% (214) of the 546 members have 10-25 full time employees.
  • The third column shows that, 41.6% (5,059) of the 12,151 employees are in this 10-25 range.
  • The fourth column shows that 3.3% ($111,972) of the $3,414,263 total dues are in this 10-25 range.

At the very end of the report (the last page for large reports), you will see the average number of FTEs (full time employees) per member and average dues amount per member. If you chose the "Length of Time as Member" segmentation then you will also see the average length of membership (in years).

Group Tree

On the left side, click on any of the thresholds, and it will jump to/highlight that area of the report.
