Creating and Managing Coupons

Introduction

Members often use the Coupon section to create coupons for discounts on goods and services to other Members, or to the general public.

The Coupons screen in MC Trade is where you can view all submitted (active) coupons across all profiles.

Expired coupons (i.e., coupons with expiration date before today) will not appear.

This screen includes options to add or edit a coupon which both open a new window with the Coupon Admin screen for that profile. The Coupons screen also includes the option to delete a coupon.

If the Coupons link is added to the Member Portal, members will also have the ability to add, edit, or delete coupons on their profile or, if authorized, on behalf of another profile.

In the Member Portal, the member would click on the Coupons link, which will open a new window and put them on the Coupon Admin screen for the selected profile.

Adding a Coupon

1. Click on the Communication menu and Coupons.
2. Click Add a Coupon.
3. Enter a profile ID or name and click Select next to the profile.

This will launch a new window and put you on the Coupon Admin screen for the selected profile.

4. Click Add New Coupon (top right).

5. Choose a Coupon Type.

This is based on your organization's list of Coupon Types. Coupon types define whether or not the coupon should be visible to members only and show in the online directory.

6. Enter the Offer Title.
7. Choose an expiration date (Coupon Offer Expires).
8. Fill out any of the remaining fields if desired and click Save.

Coupon Fields

Many of the fields will appear when viewing the coupon in the online directory or Coupon List:

1. Offer Title
2. Description of Offer
3. Coupon Offer Expires
4. Url Link
5. Contact Phone
6. Reference Code
7. Url Of Image/Logo to Appear On Coupon
8. Display Name
9. Your Address 1/Your Address 2/Your City/Your State/Your Zip

Editing a Coupon

1. Click on the Communication menu and Coupons.
2. Next to the coupon that you wish to edit, click Actions, and Edit.

This will launch a new window and put you on the Coupon Admin screen for the selected profile.

3. On the Coupon Admin screen, next to the coupon, click Actions and Edit.
4. After making the desired changes, click Save.

Deleting a Coupon

This CANNOT be undone.

1. Click on the Communication menu and Coupons.
2. Next to the coupon that you wish to delete, click Actions, and Delete.

3. Click Delete to confirm.

This will launch a new window and put you on the Coupon Admin screen for the selected profile.

4. On the Coupon Admin screen, next to the coupon, click Actions and Edit.
5. After making the desired changes, click Save.

Member Portal

Members can add coupons to their own profile or to another profile (if authorized). A member is authorized when it is related to the other profile as either the Main Contact or Editor.

The Coupons link is not displayed by default. It will need to be added to the Member Portal Sub Menu (Member Portal Settings). When you add it, choose the System Page: "Manage Coupons."

If adding on behalf of another profile, click Switch Profile at the top and select the other profile.

1. Click on the far right menu and click on the link to Coupons.

For the example below, the Member Portal Sub Menu was named Additional Resources, and the menu item was named Coupons. The names will depend on your configuration.

This will launch a new window and put you on the Coupon Admin screen for the selected profile.

2. Click Add New Coupon (top right).

3. Choose a Coupon Type.

This is based on your organization's list of Coupon Types. Coupon types define whether or not the coupon should be visible to members only and show in the online directory.

4. Enter the Offer Title.
5. Choose an expiration date (Coupon Offer Expires).
6. Fill out any of the remaining fields if desired and click Save.

Once saved, it will need to be approved before it is public. It is recommended that you require approval for all coupons submitted, but you can change this.
