Tasks are reminders that can be self-assigned or assigned to another user. Each task has a due date and can be linked to a profile. Tasks are created individually or in bulk by generating a project template.
There are several places in MC Trade to create and manage tasks:
- The task search page
- The profile view screen
- The dashboard
Task Search Page
To find the Task Search Page select the Profile menu > Tasks.
The task search screen includes a list of all current tasks. It shows the profiles the tasks are linked to, their due date, the task type, and more. From this screen, tasks can be added or generated from a project template, and current tasks can be edited or deleted.
Tasks with a red due date are past due, a profile of (0) means it is not linked to a profile.
The search function can be used to search for:
- Tasks that are completed, not completed, or both.
- Tasks that are assigned by/to a specific user or all users.
- Tasks that contain keywords in the title or note.
- Tasks that had a due date that falls within the specified range.
Finding a Task
- Select the Profiles menu > Tasks.
- In the Search Tasks panel, enter the desired filters, or enter no filters, and select Run This Search to pull a list of all tasks.
- Assigned by -or- Assigned to: Choose a user from the dropdown list to search for tasks with that user as the assigned by and/or assigned to user, or leave ALL selected to search for all.
- Completed/Not Completed: Place a check next to Completed to search for tasks that are marked complete or place a check next to Not Completed to search for tasks that are not marked complete. Leave both checked to search for both.
- Keywords in the title or note: Enter a keyword(s) to search for tasks containing that in the title or note. This is not case-sensitive; it will search for tasks that contain the entire string of keywords. For example, if you search for Ribbon Cutting Open Houses, this will not return tasks that have Ribbon Cutting OR Open Houses. It will look for tasks that contain that entire string.
- Due date: Enter or choose a date from the two date fields to search for tasks with a due date that falls on or within that range.
- Find the task by scrolling through the list.
Adding a Task
- Select the Profiles menu > Tasks.
- Select Add a Task (top right corner).
- Enter a profile ID or name to link this task to a profile, then click Select beside the desired profile.
Or select Create Unlinked Task.
The task description, task type, and due date are required.
- Next to Task Description, enter a name for this task.
- The Assigned to and Assigned by will both default to your user, but adjust if necessary.
If you assign a task to a user other than yourself, after it is saved, that user will be notified via email that they have a new task assigned to them.
- Choose a task type to categorize this task. This is based on a customizable list of task types.
- Enter or select a due date.
- Enter one or more email addresses to be notified after the task is marked complete.
- Enter any notes if desired to expand on this task.
- Select Save.
Completing a Task
- Select the Profiles menu > Tasks.
- Find the task.
- Next to the task, select Actions, and Edit.
- Place a check next to COMPLETED on. It will default as today's date, but adjust if necessary.
- Select Save.
The Dashboard
The dashboard includes a panel that shows all incomplete tasks assigned to the logged-in user.
This panel offers options to add a task, edit a task, mark a task complete, or delete a task.
Tasks with a red due date are past due, a profile of (0) means it is not linked to a profile, and the "Assigned to" and "Assigned by" columns will show a user if it is assigned to someone other than you.
Adding a Task
- Open the main Dashboard and scroll down to the "My Tasks" panel.
If this panel is not available, select Show/Hide Sections in the top right corner of the dashboard, and confirm that "Show My Tasks" is enabled.
If the panel is turned on but is still not visible, the logged-in user may not have any tasks assigned to them. To add a task, go to the Profile menu > Tasks.
- Select Add a Task (above the "My Tasks" panel).
- Enter a profile ID or name to link this task to a profile, then click Select beside the desired profile. Otherwise, select Create Unlinked Task.
Linking to a profile is useful for any task that needs to be done for a specific member/prospect profile in the database, and the task can be tracked on their profile.
The task description, task type, and due date are required.
- Next to task description, enter a name for this task.
- The Assigned to and Assigned by will both default to your user, but adjust if necessary.
If assigning a task to a user other than yourself, once the task is saved, that user will be notified via email that they have a new task assigned to them.
- Choose a task type to category this task. This is based on a list of customizable task types.
- Enter or select a due date.
- Enter one or more email addresses to be notified after the task is marked complete.
If the Assigned to user is changed from yourself to someone else, it will have automatically populate this field with the Assigned by user's email address.
- Enter any notes if desired to expand on this task.
- Select Save.
Editing, Completing, or Deleting a Task
- Open the main Dashboard and scroll down to the "My Tasks" panel.
- Find the task by scrolling through the list. There may be multiple pages (look for page numbers at the bottom of the screen).
- Beside the task, select Actions, and select the action to be executed, whether it is editing the task, completing it, or deleting it.
Once a task is deleted, it CANNOT be undone.
- After making the desired changes, select Save.
To change the date a task is completed, Edit the task, and place a check beside COMPLETED on, and adjust the date below accordingly, then select save.
Once a task is completed, it will disappear from the dashboard. Completed tasks can still be found on the task search screen, or on the profile it was assigned to.
Profile View Screen
The profile view screen includes a Tasks panel that shows all tasks linked to the selected profile and assigned to any user. The list is sorted by due date. Select other columns to sort according to that column.
From this screen, tasks can be added or generated from a project template. Tasks can also be edited, marked as complete, or deleted.

Adding a Task
- Find and open the profile.
- Scroll down to the "My Tasks" panel.
- Select Add a Task.
- Next to task description, enter a name for this task.

- Choose a task type to categorize this task. This is based on customizable task types.
- Enter or select a due date.
- Enter one or more email addresses to be notified after the task is marked complete.

Editing, Completing, and Deleting a Task
- Find and open the profile.
- Scroll down to the "My Tasks" panel.
- Find the task by scrolling through the list. There may be multiple pages (look for page numbers at the bottom of the screen).
- Next to the task, select Edit.
- To COMPLETE this task, place a check next to COMPLETED on. It will default as today's date, but adjust if necessary.
- After making the desired changes, select Save.
To delete a task, select the Delete option beside Edit. Select Delete on the confirmation window to complete this action.
Deleting a task CANNOT be undone.
