Release Notes: 25.7 - 2/24/2025

As part of our commitment to your success, we're happy to announce several improvements to MC Trade to help you manage your organization more efficiently and effectively. We will roll out these changes to all customers on February 24, 2025.

IMPORTANT PUBLIC REGISTRATION UPDATE

Previously, a bug in our public registration workflow caused some registrations to create invoices and payments without completing the registration. To prevent this, we temporarily adjusted how declined cards were handled on the registration page. If a credit card was declined by the processing gateway, the registration was still created with an open invoice, and the registrant was notified of the decline.

With this release, credit cards will now be pre-authorized to prevent this issue. A $0 pre-authorization request will now be processed to verify the credit card's validity PRIOR to creating the registration. If the credit card is declined by the processing gateway during this pre-authorization, the registration will not be created and the registrant can re-enter their payment information to continue. If the $0 pre-authorization is successful, the registration will be created. Registrants will see a temporary $0 hold on their card, which should be released within 3 to 5 business days, depending on the financial institution.

In some rare cases, the $0 pre-authorization may be successful, but the actual charge is still declined. In this case, the registration WILL still be successfully created, the user notified of the failure to pay, and an open invoice created.

We will have updates to further improve this workflow ASAP, posted in upcoming release notes.

Limit Access to Event Member Pricing for Overdue Invoices

We've introduced a new setting in the event registration configuration that allows you to limit event registrations for members with outstanding invoices. You can now restrict access to member pricing if a member is "X" days past due on an invoice. When this setting is enabled, the member will no longer have access to member pricing. Instead, they will only be able to register at the non-member rate and will have the option to pay their outstanding invoices via online bill pay to regain access to member pricing.
