MC Trade runs on SQL, a powerful and flexible database structure that makes organizing and retrieving data very easy. For some users, the Stock Report Library and the Data Export & Reporting Tool are more than enough to extract and analyze data from MC Trade. For more advanced users, the SQL Writer Tool allows you to generate your own SQL Queries and run them against your own data.
Follow these steps to use the SQL Writer Tool:
- Go to Reports > SQL Writer Tool. The SQL Writer Tool window will open.
- Enter your SQL Query in the text box under Enter your SQL Query here.
- Click Run Query. If your SQL was written correctly and generated result, the Results Data Grid will populate with information. If your SQL Query was written incorrectly, you will receive an Error Message.
Best Practices in Using the SQL Query Tool
- If you think you will use the same SQL Query multiple times, save it as an HTML Template. By doing this, it will be available in the right-click menu when you click in the top text area. Click here to learn how to create an HTML Template.
- You can learn more about SQL by attending Regional Training. Click here for a list of upcoming Regional Training dates.
